Turn on Collateral Damage at 7:00 Tonight
For those of you who don't already tune in to DJ Wilson and Fred Hessel's show, Collateral Damage, every Monday at 7:00 pm on 88.1 KDHX, do it tonight - August 20! (I usually listen to the podcast when it is posted a week later). I'll be a guest on tonight's show with Steve Patterson of Urban Review.
We will probably cover some of the items on my recent "50 Things I Won't Miss About St. Louis" post, and perhaps some previews of the upcoming "Things I Will Miss" list.
Christopher Thiemet (our real estate agent) has the property web site up and running at http://www.3618McDonald.com. I've been impressed with his professional and timely approach - he really made the house look good (all you potential buyers out there, it really does look this good).
The listing will be in the MLS tomorrow and will be held open this Sunday (August 12, 2007) from 1 to 3 in the afternoon.
Save the date - August 21, 5:30 at the Royale (Kingshighway and Arsenal). I'd love to say goodbye to you all. Even the ones I've never met in person, please come! E-mail Christian Herman - xianherman(at)cs.com - for a head count if you think you might join us.
Honestly, It's been quite a while since I've been to the Royale. Last time, I recall drinking "The Boz" - for Freeman Bosley Senior (drinks are named after St. Louis neighborhoods and politicos).
What about these:
- The Florida - Juice of half a lemon, one shot Southern Comfort, top off with tonic over ice in a highball glass with a sugared rim
Please consider donating whatever you can to the construction of a memorial garden in honor of Marti Frumhoff's activism, commitment, and unmeasurable contribution to the St. Louis community during her life.
Contributions will be accepted by PayPal or Check.
Go MIKE!
Our State Representative, Mike Daus, has pledged a $1,500 donation if the organizers can raise $25,000 by July 28. There were 500 people at her memorial service - the goal will be reached if each one sends in $50. I'm going to send in a check for $75 tomorrow and I'll bump it up to an even $100 if the goal is reached.
Some Advice
If I were organizing this fundraiser, I would challenge Alderpersons Florida, Conway, and Vollmer to each donate $1,500 towards that $25,000... Marti worked tirelessly to revitalize each of your Wards and her impact was beyond quantifying
Here is your chance to pay her back.
Friday, June 15 - Memorial Gathering for Marti Frumhoff
From the organizers:
Rain or Shine!
We will be creating the space as we come together… some of us may want to share a story, read a poem, put up art work, lead us in a song, play Frisbee or Scrabble. .
We see this as a informal time, family friendly, this includes dogs and children.
If this is at a time in which you will not be able to join us and you wish to have some thing read… please email: mel@changingtide.org and we will make sure that some one reads it for you.
The space is available from 3pm – 8pm. The focused phase of this gathering will begin at 5:30.
This memorial is a time of celebration in a park Marti cherished.
Come early, stay late. Two bbq pits are available
Please Forward!

This group has been working very hard to turn this vision into a reality. Enabling legislation just recently cleared the Board of Aldermen.

The Big BIG Tour, St. Louis’ largest home showcase, returns for its eighth year. This popular free event will be held Sunday, March 25 beginning at Central Reform Congregation, 5020 Waterman at Kingshighway in the Central West End. Participants can pick up the tour booklet and browse the free homebuyer fair at the starting point.
The Homebuyer Fair runs from 12:00 to 4:00 and properties will be open from 1:00 to 4:00.
Three hundred for-sale properties in neighborhoods across the city (including many from the 15th Ward) will be open for viewing. Sale prices of homes on the tour range from $30,000 to well over $600,000.
Neighborhoods Conference - MoBOT Keynote?
The 12th annual St. Louis Neighborhoods Conference will be held on Saturday, March 10, at the St. Louis Community College at Forest Park. SLACO, the St. Louis Association of Community Organizations, manages a variety of neighborhood coordinating, organizing and development activities across the City, but this conference is the group's crown jewel.
I have attended and/or presented at five of these conferences - every year I am floored when I realize how much people care about the City and want to do their part to make it a better place to live. Not only do hundreds of people give up a Saturday to learn more about community development, but there are so many groups and organizations building the institutional framework to bring about positive grassroots change.
Tonight (November 28) is Dining Out for Life. Participating restaurants will donate a minimum of 25% of your total bill to St. Louis Effort For AIDS.
Please WALK to your favorite participating South Grand restaurant and let your dining dollars do double duty.
